STOP! Don't pay for that CMS!

It seems like every company out there today has their own in house Content Management System (CMS) and they’re all too happy to license it to their clients for a monthly fee. I get it, it’s all about residual income, that little way of making money that we all pay for with contracts, service fees and sneaky hidden jabs at our wallets. I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to pay for a quality CMS, there are many free options out there that are bigger and better than anything these small studios are going to develop on their own. Content Management Systems where hundreds if not thousands of people are developing, bug testing, revising, and designing modules in order to make a better product. Compare that to One developer working on a CMS while still trying to develop websites in order to keep the company he or she works for a float.
Now from my perspective (the service provider) that $35 to $100 clients are dropping every month on a CMS is easy money, most clients don’t have many changes and now with the CMS you’re paying for, the Design company doesn’t even have to do anymore work for that money because the CMS makes it so you update the website yourself.
Think Big Studios offers a content management solution... notice how I said solution, not system. That’s because we work with Open Source Software that is free to anyone who wants to use it. Now you hear free and you think well how can this be good? Humans have the tendency to lean toward something that costs a bit more, that $30 per month makes you feel as though you’ve bought a quality product and it’s worth the money. However Open Source Software while free, is only so because hundreds of people are behind the development, and the movement which states that quality software can be developed and provided to the masses free of charge. If you need a bit more convincing here are a few examples of open source software:
Linux is an open source operating system anyone is free to download and work on the source code for the project so long as any updates and innovations that are made are released back into the project. This is also the operating system that 75% of websites are hosted on.
Open office is a open source alternative to Microsoft Office, it handles all the same documents but without the $300 price tag.
Wordpress the worlds most popular blogging software (this is just a CMS for blogs) is also open source and free to use, download the files and you’re free to do whatever you want.
Think big Studios Content management solutions is not to just use one CMS not an “In House CMS” but to use whatever Content Mangement System is right for the client. Whether it’s CMS Made Simple, Modx (another CMS), ZenCart (Full Blown E-commerce Intergration) or Wordpress (Blogging Software) we are well versed in all aspects of these applications and are happy to not charge you a dime to use them.
