Stop Wasting Time with Social Media & Make it Work for You
You know around here we like robots. We enjoy their care free attitude, their colourful exteriors and how they can be or become anything we can imagine. One of the great things about robots is that they are designed to do the work for us, to help us out and make our lives simple. Only once and a while a robot can come off as cold and heartless (not our robots), an impersonal representation of it’s designers vision. This is how a lot of companies come off in the world of social media. There’s no heart, no feeling and no love. Companies new to social media act as if they periodically post a project update, or post about a new product, that they have fulfilled their obligation. The problem we then see is that there is no engagement, there is no human element, there is no interactivity between their company and their customers. The world views them as a static machine pouring out widgets.
You need to be active, you need to engage your audience. Don’t just be a passive company on the sideline, get involved and ask your audience questions. Ask them what their opinion is, ask them what they would like to see next. Encourage them to ask you any questions they need answered ( then answer them). Get a dialogue going with your audience, and engage them in a conversation. This allows your customers to see that you are not just a cold heartless robot, but that you are a person and possibly a friend that will be there when they need you. You clients can be very loyal and when choosing who to buy from we would all rather buy something from someone we know, and who we trust. By taking an active role and creating an interactive approach to your company’s social media practices you will be able to develop that trust and your customers will see you as the go to company in your industry.
Social media isn’t something that is going away. Our lives are being integrated more and more every day. With every new electronic device that we put in our hands, our lives become a little more connected. Starting a campaign that creates a lasting bond between your company and your customers can be a daunting yet worthwhile task. However setting up the pages, accounts and groups then integrating them all into a cohesive strategy while learning the ins and outs of social media may not be a task that you are able take on just yet.
